About Penn DECA.
Penn DECA is a chapter of DECA Inc., an Internationally renowned non-profit organization that empowers all students to learn and grow professionally while building crucial business skills through competition, friendship, and cooperation. No matter what your passion is, or how you like to compete, DECA has something that is perfect for you. DECA is an organization that values individual growth, community betterment, and creating a better future as they help prepare students for the professional world. On top of numerous fun events Penn DECA does during the year, such as DECArating the Kingsmen or participating in the Homecoming float parade, but there are also many enrichment, fundraising, and community building opportunities that will create a more holistic and exciting time for all those wanting to experience that DECA difference, so stay tuned for events throughout the year prior to competitions. And as for those competitions, no matter your passion in life, DECA has an event for you.
For those who enjoy preparing and working on a year-round project, a written event might be for you! You will spend the year working either alone or in a group on a written project. At SCDC State Competition, you will present this in front of a judge. From Sports and Entertainment Research, to Marketing Campaigns, there is something that is right for you! For those who enjoy quick thinking and an action-packed environment, a role play event might be right for you! Competing alone or with a partner, you first will take a quick test regarding business knowledge in your area. During competition, you will have 15-30 minutes to prepare a presentation to a judge about a certain prompt, addressing numerous Key Performance Indicators. District Competiton
**ROLE PLAY ONLY**
Early January
South Bend, IN
Districts are held as a qualifying competition for State competition. It is held during school hours at a South Bend location. Transportation and lunch are provided. This is only required for role play events, but all are encouraged to participate to build important skills before SCDC, even if you intend to participate in a written event at State.
SCDC
Early March
Indianapolis, IN
SCDC is a large, state-wide competition held for three days in early March. You will miss two days of school if you qualify to attend. From Opening Ceremony, to exploring downtown Indy with friends, SCDC is a TON of fun! You will build new skills and meet new people, too!
ICDC
Late April
Orlando, FL
For those few who finish in the top few at SCDC, you will qualify for this ~6 day trip to Orlando, FL to compete at International Competition, where you'll meet people from all around the world! Packed with fun entertainment and once-in-a-lifetime experiences, ICDC is something you'll never forget.
